1.8 Bits and Pieces

Dolphins

“It is of interest to note that while some dolphins are reported to have learned English — up to fifty words used in correct context — no human being has been reported to have learned dolphinese.”

–Carl Sagan, astronomer and writer (1934-1996)

“…on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much — the wheel, New York, wars, and so on — whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man — for precisely the same reasons.”

Oh yeah! I think they have something there. We should lop about in the water. It would make more sense than what’s going on right now. How about hogs? I hear they have a super intelligence..check that one out.

Didn’t know you had picked up a “Hitchhiker” on your trip. Don’t panic, I won’t tell. Oh, bought a book USING WordPress. It has to be the worst designed system I have ever seen. Still it sells more HELP books because of it. I have to figure it out because the people you want to talk to no longer have a phone.

Yes, I picked up two hitchhikers in Oregon and one in AZ. Since I have been in Alameda, I’ve been watching a lot of Forensic Files and Criminal Minds. I am going to give up hitchers for a while.

As for WordPress. I am liking it. Get yourself about 30 mins of tutoring from someone whose been at it for a little while and it will become easy.

  3. I fear hogs are more intelligent than dolphins, but lacking agility get the worst of existence. And I also fear that pretty looks and personality have made the balance uneven.

I don’t know if hogs are smarter. I swan with the Dolphins in Hawaii and they were super-intuitive and sensitive to me and my inclinations. They seemed to know what I was going to do in the water before I did it. I love them. Not so with hogs. They are dirty and as Lucille said, unattractive. They may be smart but who wants to find out by ‘playing’ with them?

Al, you are wise to NOT pick up hitchhikers. I remember in Berkeley in the 60’s I picked up a young man (everyone did it then) and he threatned me with a knife and told me to pull into an alley. I told him I had just come from the Clinic and had syphlis. He jumped out of the car and ran. Lucky me!
