Every new writer learns a few of the bazillion tips and tricks of the craft. We don’t need to have accumulated very many before we sit in a critique group with someone who violates one of the rules. So we become teachers.
Although far too many writing teachers are people who’ve learned but a few dozen rules, yet hold themselves out as a recipient of the sermon on the mount.
I find myself passing on some of what I have come to believe.
